Things To Do In Chandler

Chandler is a city that offers a great many attractions for all tastes and ages. The city was named after its famous resident A.J.Chandler who was a well known vet and land owner in the city. At his death in 1954 the city took his name and since then it has gone from strength to strength and has seen large growth in all areas. As a result it has seen an increase in tourism and there have grown up a number of different actitivies for all to enjoy.

First up, if you are one who loves to look at and enjoy fine art work then the artwalk in the downtown area is a great place to go and see. It is put on on the first wednesday of the month and displays all of the finest artwork from all of the local artists.

If you are more keen on the outdoors and the wonders of nature then the oasis park is a great place to visit. Here there are over 100 acres of woodlands and desert to explore through the numerous trails and bike tracks that you can take. There is also some fishing to be done here for those interested and numerous picnic stop offs so you can relax and take in the beautiful scenery over a bite to eat.

The city also has an aquatic centre. Here you can enjoy a large variety of different activities, including a zero depth play pool, a couple of different water slides, an artificial current river and a pool designed to cater for competitions.

For the kids who love to get out on their skates and get some wind rushing through their hair, the 35,000 feet skate park is free for all to enjoy. No matter what your level, whether a beginner, or a seasoned pro out to practice your newest tricks, this location brings together hundreds of kids to skate and socialize together.

The city is also home to a host of public libraries for those who are interested in books and literature. There are more than books at these libraries, with CD's videos and audio books also entertaining over a million visitors each and every year. In addition, there is also the Chandler historical museum for history buffs keen on keeping up to speed with the city's storied past. Entrance is free and the museum is open all week expect for sundays.
